New Executive Chef Posted by Latitude 41 on June 20, 2013
Latitude 41 restaurant is pleased to announce the addition of Executive Chef, Michael Koenig, who will begin his position in June.
Koenig has 20 years experience in the restaurant industry including most recently as Chef de Cuisine at Aurea, the Renaissance Stanford Court Hotel’s restaurant, located in Nob Hill San Francisco.
Koenig credits his mother and her Lebanese heritage for teaching him at an early age, that preparing flavorful food is a sensory experience all about smells and tastes. Koenig creates unique dishes by working with seasonal and local ingredients.
After attending Michigan State University, Koenig found his passion with food and began experimenting with different ingredients to create his own recipes. His professional experience has taken him to several cities across the county including Phoenix, San Diego and Santa Barbara.
In 2001, Koenig became the Chef of Café Delluchi in San Francisco, running kitchen operations and developing new menu items and daily specials. After moving to Kuleto’s Restaurant in 2002, Koenig expanded his repertoire, becoming Sous Chef of the San Francisco eatery where he maintained preparation, quality, and presentation with a daily volume of approximately 1,000 meals per day. Honing his ability to successfully create a fine-dining experience in large volume establishments, Koenig served as Executive Sous Chef at Scala’s Bistro for more than two years, overseeing private dining and menu planning. Transitioning to the South Bay in 2008, Koenig acted as Sous Chef at Palo Alto’s Restaurant Zibibbo and then returned to San Francisco a year later as Grand Café’s Executive Sous Chef
